Many people shy away from long color changing yarn when it comes to planned color pooling, but I think everyone should give it a try. The results can be absolutely gorgeous.
Most people prefer to color pool with color lengths between 6-12 inches, but when the lengths are longer, we can use "yarn eating" stitches like this granny stitch shown above. Other "yarn eating stitches" include the puff stitch, the bobble stitch, the popcorn stitch, and the jasmine stitch, to name a few. My swatches are normally 2 complete color sequences long, but for long color changing yarn, I only use half a sequence.
With longer sequences, you can make stunning blankets that crochet up very quickly. I love the colors in this Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek: Windswept Wishes shown above.
Some other popular long color changing yarns are Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek: Emerald Garden (done in puff stitch) and Winterberry Frost (granny stitch), Caron Simply Soft Times Square (granny stitch), Red heart Neon Stripes (granny stitch) and Primary stripes (swatch to come). Why don't you give it a try. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with the results.
